Kristin Wilson (M.Ed, RYT-200) teaches our Kids Yoga, Tot & Parent/Caregiver Yoga, and Whole Family Yoga classes. Her passion for working with children with special needs all started in 2000 right here in Madison. She was a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and saw a job posting for working with children with Autism and jumped on the opportunity. She then had an internship in the Waisman Early Childhood Program and it was during this experience that Kristin knew she wanted to pursue working with children with disabilities beyond college. She received her Bachelor’s in Science in Child Development and Family Studies in 2003. Kristin then moved to California and received her Early Childhood Special Education teaching credential, as well as her Master’s in Education at the University of San Diego. Kristin taught for six years in an early childhood special education classroom, collaborating with other therapists (PT, OT, SLP and Vision Specialists) to ensure she was providing her students with the best learning environment possible. Kristin moved back to Madison in 2012 and worked with the Bridges for Families Birth to Three Program until July 2014. In her years in the field of special education, she has worked with children with a wide variety of needs, including Down Syndrome, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, Seizure Disorders, Cognitive Disabilities, genetic disorders and other unspecified developmental delays. She received her 200 hour yoga teacher training from Dragonfly Hot Yoga, as well as the mini yogis™ training for children’s yoga in Chicago and YogAutism training here in Madison. Kristin is passionate about bringing her love for yoga to this population and this is where Exceptional Kids Yoga Project comes in! She is looking forward to meeting you and your child soon!
